Before you start your archive
A few practical answers about starting a collection on Curiosa.
Photographing your objectsHow do I start cataloging my collection?
Create an account with 10 free scans, granted once on signup. Start with one object. Add up to three photographs and any details you already know. Review the suggested description, then keep the record in your cabinet. You can build the rest of your collection at your own pace.
Can I keep different types of objects in one collection?
Yes. Your cabinet can hold different types of objects. Use its category filters to browse one part of your collection, or search by name to find a particular record. Record the details that distinguish each object, such as dimensions, maker’s marks or an edition number.
What can I keep with each object?
Keep photographs, an object description and your own collector notes together. Depending on the object, the record can include its maker, period, materials, condition and an estimated value range. Review suggested details and add the history you know.
Can I keep my cabinet private?
Cabinets are public by default. Premium includes cabinet visibility controls, but direct photo URLs can remain accessible. Review the privacy policy and keep confidential information out of uploads and public notes.
Do I need to know what an object is worth?
No. Curiosa is useful for documenting what you own, whether or not you plan to sell it. Identification and value estimates can help fill out a record, but need checking. An estimated value does not certify authenticity or guarantee a sale price.
It starts with one object.
Choose an object from your collection. Give it a record you can come back to.
